Entry requirements for domestic students

For admission into a Diploma or Undergraduate Certificate course at JMC Academy, domestic applicants must:

  • be at least 17 years of age, and
  • complete an application form, and
  • complete an interview, and
  • provide evidence of meeting on of the following requirements:
    • Year 12 (Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education) or equivalent, or
    • a qualification at Certificate III level or above, or
    • work and life experience that demonstrates the ability to undertake study at the required level.

For admission into a Bachelor courses at JMC Academy, domestic applicants must:

  • be at least 17 years of age, and
  • complete an application form, and
  • complete an interview, and
  • provide evidence of meeting on of the following requirements:
    • Year 12 (Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education) or equivalent, or
    • a qualification at Certificate IV level or above, or
    • work and life experience that demonstrates the ability to undertake study at the required level.

Additional requirements for undergraduate programs for domestic and international students

All domestic and international applicants seeking placement in JMC Academy undergraduate programs must:

  • demonstrate satisfactory English Language Proficiency consistent with the Assessing and Supporting English Language Proficiency Policy and Procedure, and
  • submit a portfolio for the following programs:
    • Design (Visual communication)
    • Creative Arts (Animation)
    • Creative Arts (Game Design)
    • Music (major in Music Production)
  • complete an audition for the following courses:
    • Creative Arts (Acting)
    • Music (major in Music Performance)
  • complete an audition and submit a portfolio for the following course:
    • Music (major in songwriting).

Alternative entry requirements into undergraduate programs for domestic students

Applicants for alternate entry into a Diploma or Undergraduate Certificate course must:

  • complete an application form, and
  • complete an interview, and
  • have completed a relevant JMC Academy Certificate III program.

On successful application for alternate entry, students will be allocated to the diploma course, which forms the first two trimesters of the degree program. Upon completion of the required 48 credit points of study for the award of the diploma, students may subsequently articulate into the relevant bachelor degree.

Applicants for alternate entry into the Bachelor courses must:

  • be at least 17 years of age, and
  • complete an application form, and
  • complete an interview, and
  • have completed a relevant JMC Academy Diploma program.
Entry requirements for International students

For admission into a Bachelor, Diploma or Undergraduate Certificate course at JMC Academy, international applicants must:

    • be at least 18 years of age, and
    • complete an application form, and
    • complete an interview, and
    • provide evidence of successful completion of a Senior Secondary Certificate (transcripts and certificate must be translated and certified). Refer to the Entry Requirements by Country document for a list of relevant certificates accepted as satisfactory academic entry requirements.
Alternative entry requirements for undergraduate programs for International students

Applicants for alternate entry into a Diploma or Undergraduate Certificate course must:

    • be at least 18 years of age, and
    • complete an application form, and
    • complete an interview, and
    • have completed:
      • a relevant JMC Certificate III program, or
      • Foundation Studies Pathway, or,
      • selected overseas VET qualification approved at the discretion of JMC Academy.

Applicants for alternate entry into a Bachelor course must:

    • be at least 18 years of age, and
    • complete an application form, and
    • complete an interview, and
    • have completed:
      • a relevant JMC Diploma program, or
      • Foundation Studies Pathway, or,
      • selected overseas VET qualification approved at the discretion of JMC Academy.

Domestic students have the option of paying tuition fees prior to the commencement of each trimester or deferring payment through FEE-HELP. To be entitled to FEE-HELP, you must be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa.

Unless applying for FEE-HELP, tuition fees are due four weeks prior to the commencement of the course. Payment for all fees is in Australian dollars and payment can be made by cash, credit card or cheque made payable to JMC Academy.

Located in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, JMC campuses in are based in the most creative, culturally diverse inner-city precincts. All campuses are situated close to entertainment venues, design studios and galleries and are easily accessible by public transport. The Sydney campus is in a purpose-built, three-level campus in Ultimo, within the central Sydney education hub.

JMC provides state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at each campus, including professional recording studios, surround sound mixing, digital and analogue recording consoles, post-production suites, digital media and animation labs, film, television and rehearsal studios, on-campus auditoriums, green screen studios, digital editing suites and professional cameras and lighting.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not available on campus, however International Services can refer international students to suitable accommodation options that are close to the campus.

Student support

JMC provides free counselling and academic assistance to all students throughout their journey. Services include library research assistance, ESL support, exam preparation, career development, academic writing and study skills, time and stress management and much more. In addition to the existing counselling services available, students can access the TalkCampus app, which provides free 24/7 instant online support for your mental health.

To support international students with their studies, JMC provides a foundation course before studies commence, plus orientation guides, academic support staff and counsellors, and ongoing English language support.
