What to do if you received an SRS offer

Universities made more than 14,200 unconditional and conditional Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) offers to Year 12 students in November Round 1 (10 November).

If you applied through SRS and didn't receive an offer, don't worry: your course preferences will be considered again in future offer rounds.

The main offer rounds for Year 12 students are December Round 2 (21 December) and January Round 1 (11 January), after ATARs are released.

Unconditional SRS offers

If you received an unconditional offer, congratulations! Go ahead and accept it. If you want to stay in the running for another offer in subsequent rounds, move the course you’ve been offered down to the bottom of your list of course preferences or remove it entirely. (As long as you have accepted the offer, you can’t lose it.)

If you receive an offer in one round and accept it, and then receive an offer in a later round, you can choose either to:

  • keep your previous offer and not accept your new offer, or
  • accept your new offer and withdraw from the course you've already accepted.

It's important to withdraw officially from the course you no longer want to pursue. Contact the admissions office of the relevant university. This will ensure you don't incur any unnecessary HECS debt or tuition fees.

Conditional SRS offers

If you receive a conditional offer, you still need to meet additional criteria before the institution will make you an unconditional offer in December Round 2 (on 21 December) or January Round 1 (11 January). The institution will tell you what these are in the conditional offer email you received on 10 November.

You might have received more than one conditional offer on 10 November, but only one of them can become an unconditional offer in December Round 2. In this offer round, like in all rounds, you’ll receive an offer to the course that is highest in your list of preferences and for which you are eligible and competitive enough. So make sure you have the course you most want to study at the top of your list of preferences, even if you haven't received a conditional offer to it.

SRS offers in a nutshell

  • First SRS offers were made on Friday 10 November.
  • Institutions have the option to make further unconditional offers in November Round 2 and December Round 1.
  • If you receive an unconditional offer, accept it. If you want to receive another offer in subsequent rounds, move the course you have accepted to the bottom of your list or remove it entirely.
  • If you received a conditional offer on 10 November, you still need to:
    • meet the criteria stipulated in the offer
    • meet all other institution requirements for that course
    • include the course in your list of preferences by 11.59pm on Friday 15 December. Make sure the course that you would most like to do is at the top of your list.
