One more chance for semester 1 study

25 Jan 2024

IF you’re still considering what you’ll be doing in 2024, university study is an option. Some courses are still open and available for semester 1.

Applications through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) for study in first semester close at 11.59pm on Friday 2 February.

So far, UAC centralised has made 93,765 offers to domestic undergraduate applicants.

Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer, Kim Paino, said the message for anyone who has missed out on an offer so far is not to be disheartened.

‘Some courses have vacancies for semester 1 so there’s still a chance. Contact the university to confirm that places are still available and that your application will be competitive.’

Also, make sure you are eligible for any courses you list in your preferences. Some courses have special entry requirements, course prerequisites and/or early application closing dates and it may be too late to complete these requirements.

If you have missed out on an offer to your preferred course, consider other course options too. ‘Most institutions have pathway programs that lead into a bachelor degree, or you could start with a TAFE qualification or a course at a private college.’
