University applications for 2027 open today – get ahead early

APPLICATIONS for 2027 university entry are now open through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), giving Year 12 students the chance to get a head start on one of their biggest decisions of the year.

Last year, more than 53,800 Year 12 students applied through UAC, choosing from over 2,700 courses across a wide range of study areas. Health was the most popular field of study, highlighting strong interest in careers that make a real impact in communities.

Applications are also open for non-Year 12 applicants planning to begin university in Semester 2, 2026.

Kim Paino, Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer at UAC, encourages students to act early: ‘As Year 12 students are on term 1 holidays, it’s the perfect time to submit their university application. They don’t need to lock in their course choices yet – getting the application in now simply removes one more pressure from later in the year.’
