Top 10 most in-demand courses for 2020

03 Feb 2020

THE majority of Year 12 students have received their offers to uni and the stats are in - once again Health, Management and Commerce, and Society and Culture are the most in-demand fields of study for applications through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

Information released today by UAC indicates a strong preference among applicants for health degrees. Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine at UNSW Sydney tops the list at 1,305 unique first preferences. The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine joint medical program at University of Newcastle and University of New England, the Doctor of Medicine at Western Sydney and the Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Newcastle also make the top 10 list.

The Bachelor of Business at the University of Technology Sydney was the second most in-demand course with 1,105 first preferences and UNSW Sydney’s Double Commerce degree also made the list with 597 first preferences.

Popular Bachelor of Arts degrees also featured with the University of Sydney’s Arts and combined Arts/Law program along with Macquarie University’s Arts degrees receiving a total of 1,692 first preferences.

With a further 6,700 offers released last week and only a few offer rounds to go, UAC strongly recommends that applicants accept offers they are made now so they don’t miss out on the opportunity to study in first semester this year as courses are filling up fast.

Potential students can still apply through UAC for study in first semester until midnight next Friday 7 February 2020, and UAC encourages applicants to check directly with the institution they’re interested in to see if they still have vacancies and are making offers in the February offer rounds.
