I’m in Year 12: when will I get my uni offer?

‘I’m in Year 12, I’ve submitted my UAC application, and now I want to find out if I've made it into my dream course!’

If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. At UAC, one of the things we’re asked most frequently is when uni offers will be made.

We totally get it – it’s natural to be curious or excited about what next year has in store! It can also be hard to keep track of which UAC dates and deadlines apply to you.

So, here’s a rundown of the most important offer rounds for Year 12 students in the lead up to semester 1, 2026.

Early offers through SRS: 13 November

The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) is UAC’s early offer scheme. It’s one way institutions make early offers of undergraduate admission to Year 12 students, by using criteria other than the ATAR. If you’ve applied for SRS (most importantly, before the deadline of 5 September!), you may receive an early offer to uni when the first SRS offers are made on 13 November.

Keep in mind, SRS offers are only for eligible courses included in your UAC preferences at the time offers are made. Not every institution participates in SRS and not all courses are eligible. Check out the SRS web pages for more information on participating institutions and their criteria.

Some SRS offers are conditional, meaning you’ll still need to meet additional requirements – such as a minimum ATAR, submitting a portfolio or attending an audition. Others may be unconditional and guarantee you a place, as long as you complete your HSC and receive an ATAR.

Offers based on your ATAR: 23 December

This is the main event for Year 12 students!

When universities make offers to their courses, most Year 12 students will be assessed and selected based on their ATAR. This year, ATARs will be released on 18 December (you then have until 11.59pm that night to change your preferences for the next offer round). Following that, the first ATAR-based offers will be released in December Round 2 on 23 December.

The next round of ATAR-based offers, January Round 1, will take place on 8 January. This round includes the first offers for highly sought-after courses such as medicine. It's also a second chance if you missed out on the course you wanted in December, or if you've changed your preferences since then.

December Round 2 and January Round 1 are when most offers will be made for semester 1, 2026 courses. However, institutions may continue to make offers in later rounds for courses that still have vacancies.

What about the earlier offer rounds?

You may have noticed on UAC’s website that there are undergraduate offer rounds throughout the year, some as early as April. However, the majority of these do not include offers for Year 12 students.

Besides SRS early offers in November, the offer rounds before December Round 2 are usually for ADFA (Australian Defence Force Academy) courses and for non-school applicants who already have qualifications we can assess. Many of these earlier offers are for uni courses starting in 2025.
