Year 12 offers are almost here!

24 Jan 2022

Not long now: the first round of ATAR-based offers will be released on Wednesday 26 January.

Here's a guide to what to do next, no matter what happens.

You get an offer to your number 1 course That's great! Go ahead and accept it and follow the uni's instructions for enrolment.
You get an offer but it's not to your preferred course
  • Accept the offer.
  • Move the offered course to the bottom of your preference list (or remove it altogether).
  • Make sure you have your preferred course at the top of your preference list.

If you get an offer to your preferred course in the next offer round, you can:

  • accept the new offer
  • withdraw your acceptance of the first offer (this will free up your place in the course for someone else).

Changing your preferences after you receive an offer

You don't receive an offer
  • Reassess your preferences. On Wednesday, we'll publish the selection ranks required to receive an offer to each course in January Round 2. Make sure you include one course that has a lowest selection rank that matches (or is less than) your ATAR.
  • Contact the institution to make sure there are still vacancies in your preferred courses.
  • Consider including a diploma course in your preference list. They usually require a lower selection rank than bachelor degrees in the same subject area and, if you do well in your first year, you can often transfer to the second year of the related bachelor degree.
  • Lock in your preferences for February Round 1 offers by midnight on Saturday 29 January.
  • In your application, make sure you have selected 'Yes' to the question asking you if you'd like to receive information about alternative study options. This will allow institutions to contact you about other courses.
You haven't applied for any courses yetIt’s not too late, but not all courses will still have vacancies. On Wednesday, take a look at the January Round 2 lowest selection ranks and course vacancies.

Before you apply, it's a good idea to check with the relevant institutions to make sure there are still places in the courses that interest you.

Applications close at midnight on Friday 4 February.

Applications open on 1 April for the second half of this year and semester 1, 2023.
