Centralised
Centralised admissions
Cost-efficient admissions services for tertiary education providers
UAC offers centralised, end-to-end admissions services to tertiary education institutions.
The starting point of the centralised admissions process is the application portal. Accessed through UAC’s website, it is a tried and tested system that efficiently collects the applicant information used to determine offer eligibility. It has serviced more than a million applicants since 2001.
The application is integrated with UAC’s backend system: the receipt of an application triggers the commencement of the admissions process.
In addition to facilitating the standard application process, UAC supports and promotes its participating institutions by:
- administering institution access schemes
- running communication and marketing campaigns to promote the application process and offer acceptance
- engaging with schools and the community to demystify and promote higher education.
Admissions
UAC administers undergraduate admissions for domestic and selected international applicants. This includes a centralised application and assessment process; management of the allocation process; and the provision of associated resources, information and services for applicants, potential applicants, other interested parties and the general public.
UAC administers postgraduate admissions for selected coursework courses for domestic applicants. This includes the provision of a centralised application and assessment process; management of the allocation process; and the provision of associated resources, information and services for applicants, potential applicants, other interested parties and the general public.
UAC’s online Qualifications Assessment Service allows potential applicants to have their qualifications assessed before they apply for tertiary study.
Access schemes
Most of UAC’s participating institutions offer the Educational Access Scheme (EAS) to help students who have experienced educational disadvantage gain admission to tertiary study. UAC administers all EAS applications on behalf of institutions, including the provision of centralised applications and assessment, the distribution of eligibility letters and the provision of associated resources, information and services.
Equity Scholarships help financially disadvantaged students with the costs associated with tertiary study. UAC administers Equity Scholarships for UAC applicants and current university students, including the provision of centralised applications and assessment, offer processes and the provision of associated publications, information and services.
The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) is one way institutions make early offers to current Australian Year 12 students who have applied for undergraduate admission through UAC. SRS applications are assessed centrally at UAC using criteria other than (or in addition to) the ATAR, including school ratings and senior secondary studies.
Marketing and engagement
UAC produces a variety of content for UAC's website, printed resources and digital marketing assets to support our participating institutions, prospective undergraduate, postgraduate and international applicants, plus teachers and careers advisers.
To support our participating institutions, UAC visits regional careers expos, schools and information days across NSW, the ACT and interstate. We also undertake student and parent information sessions at schools as well as school staff development sessions.
UAC's applicant contact centre responds to telephone, email, LiveChat and Facebook enquiries as well as website live chat from prospective and current applicants.
