The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science provides foundational knowledge in the medical diagnoses and management of disease. Students will gain hands-on learning in practical laboratories, using modern technologies to analyse and diagnose medical conditions.
Delve into foundational medical science such as anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biogeochemistry and genetics before progressing to advanced studies in haematology, infectious disease, histopathology and genetic pathology.
Students gain practical skills and knowledge to prepare them for practice in pathology and clinical laboratories. Graduates will be able to perform clinical testing, analysis and report accurate and helpful results to physicians for their patients, supported by critical and clinical reasoning.
Anatomy, biogeochemistry, genetics, pathophysiology, physiology.
Graduates will be well-prepared to work as Medical Laboratory Scientists in pathology and forensic laboratories. Graduates will also be qualified for scientist and quality assurance positions in biomedical, hospital, veterinary, university and government research laboratories and offices.
This course includes 560 hours of medical laboratory placement.
