About

This program gives the applicant keen insights into the nature of what it means to be human, and the tools needed to help distressed clients overcome mental illness and achieve optimum well-being. It is designed for students from any discipline who work in a helping profession and is an ideal choice if you wish to enhance your skills.

The program offers an invaluable field placement, giving applicants the opportunity to work directly with clients while undergoing clinical supervision and incorporating learning on campus. In addition, students will learn how to critically examine theories and approaches in light of their contribution to a contemporary relational understanding and practice of counselling.

The Graduate Diploma in Counselling is accredited by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

Admission criteria

  • Undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline.
  • Submit a detailed CV and an accompanying letter of application addressing the following: reason for wishing to pursue a counselling qualification, relevant life experience, and relevant work or volunteer experience. Upload your CV and letter as a PDF within the UAC application as soon as possible after applying through UAC and at the latest by the final UAC closing date.
