About

This degree gives you the qualifications needed to help immigrants and refugees call Australia home. Taught by specialist immigration barristers and migration agents, the one-of-a-kind program lets students specialise in Australian immigration and refugee law.

With full accreditation from the Department of Home Affairs, the program supplements online learning with work experience and one face-to-face weekend workshop to give you the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in migration law.

Admission criteria

Either:

  • undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline; or
  • two years’ full-time equivalent relevant and current professional work experience that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with:

  • a Statement of Service (or statutory declaration where production of a Statement of Service is not possible) for all work experience listed on the application, and
  • a cover letter that demonstrates how their professional work experience has permitted them to gain the following attributes:
    – critical thinking and problem solving
    – teamwork and communication skills
    – career and leadership readiness
    – intercultural and ethical competency
    – self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

Applicants will be assessed by the School of Law on a case-by-case basis to ensure they have the ability to complete graduate-level study.

Upload your cover letter and statement of service as a PDF within the UAC application.

Note: Students will be required to undertake one compulsory weekend workshop on campus in Sydney to successfully complete this program.
