About

The Master of Public Health builds upon existing knowledge to better prepare you to be a leader in innovation and solve complex issues on a national and international scale. You will learn strategies and techniques to prevent disease and promote health, health policies, ethical practice and more.

Available as a double degree with a Master of Business Administration or a Master of Global Project Management.

This degree gives health professionals from a broad range of backgrounds the advanced knowledge and skills to address public health challenges locally and around the world. You’ll enhance your understanding of current global and environmental health issues, ethical practice, health policy, systems and economics, along with social, behavioural and cultural determinants of health and welfare.

Learning outcomes

  • Design and apply intervention strategies to detect, prevent and control diseases.
  • Identify environmental risk factors that affect the health and safety of a given community.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the ethical practice of public health, and the principles of access and equity.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of health policy and management to promote and optimise health and welfare.

Admission criteria

  • Completed AQF Level 7 (Bachelor degree) or above from an Australian University; or
  • An equivalent overseas higher education qualification; or
  • A combination of formal (below AQF7) or or non-formal qualifications and seven years of relevant experience in a health professional role. Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate will allow automatic entry to the Graduate Diploma or Master of Public Health with 100% credit. Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
