This degree will integrate knowledge and skills in biomedicine and health, including human biology, disease and treatment, as well as approaches to public health, health care and the health care system. In addition, you will develop professional skills essential for success across a broad range of careers in health. The degree is taught at the Westmead Health Precinct, and in your second and third year of study you will have opportunities to undertake work placements and projects within real health settings.
You will undertake core units in biomedicine and health.
Biomedicine, diagnostics and clinical practice, healthcare, medical research, public health, and non-clinical roles in health care such as: clinical trial management; health administration and management; health communication and marketing; health promotion; hospital management; policymaking; project and case management; or related fields.
With further study, career possibilities across a broad range of health professional pathways include medicine, dentistry, allied health, pharmacy and nursing.
You will have the opportunity to gain industry experience through work integrated learning placements in your third year.
The Australian Government subsidises the tuition fee for this course. The remaining balance is paid by the student. Current University of Sydney fee information.

Depending on the units of study chosen, students who have not completed HSC Chemistry and HSC Mathematics (or equivalent) are advised to take the Chemistry and Mathematics bridging courses.

Open Learning Environment (OLE) units are short, on-demand and workshop- supported. They enable you to broaden your skills in areas such as entrepreneurial thinking, persuasive communication, project management and ethical reasoning. OLEs are available to all students at the University, while students commencing in liberal studies degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce or combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies) and some specialist degrees (Bachelor of Economics) must complete 6 credit points of OLE units.
