This program provides an entry point into the field of urban and regional planning. Designed for those starting their career in the field, this program combines practical learning with the foundational knowledge needed to understand the complex factors shaping Australia’s urban and regional landscapes.
You’ll explore the fundamentals of town planning through a local lens. Drawing on examples from the Hunter region, the program explores environmental legislation, the economic, social and cultural dynamics of cities and regions and working respectfully and ethically on and with Country.
With practical applications, you’ll learn the principles of urban and regional planning to conduct environmental assessments and understand how planning impacts communities. You’ll gain hands-on experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other planning technologies, preparing you to tackle real-world challenges.
