About

With a greater reliance on technology and the increasingly fast pace of change, it’s important teachers are equipped with the skills and knowledge to teach the students of the future. Western’s newly developed Master of Teaching (STEM) explores the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Flexible study options are offered where applicants may be eligible for an accelerated study mode for early completion.

This degree is accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority. Graduates also meet the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers.

Admission criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics (STEM) with a minimum GPA of 4.
  • The completed subjects in the undergraduate degree must match with the secondary STEM subject content requirements of the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

Accelerated progression

The program can be completed in 1.5 years of full-time study with accelerated progression by students who gain a GPA of 5 for their first four core subjects of study in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) STEM.

Suitability for teaching

Students are required to demonstrate suitability for the teaching profession by completing the Literacy and Numeracy Test.
