About

The Graduate Diploma in Psychology provides an alternative method to Honours of gaining an accredited fourth year of undergraduate study in Psychology.

Applicants will be part of an active research culture that broaches a range of theoretical and epistemological approaches in both applied and pure psychological research. They will also explore a range of methods, including experimental, quasi-experimental and qualitative research, and a strong program of postgraduate training.

Entry into this program is limited to students who have completed an approved accredited three-year undergraduate sequence in Psychology (or an approved accredited bridging sequence such as the Graduate Diploma of Psychological Studies) at an institution other than Western Sydney University in the last 10 years. In addition, an average mark of 70 in subjects equivalent to Level 2 and 3, with a majority of Credit or higher grades in subjects equivalent to Level 2 and 3 Psychology subjects, must have been obtained.

This program is accredited as a fourth year of Psychology study by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

Admission criteria

  • Approved accredited three-year undergraduate sequence in psychology, or an approved accredited bridging sequence in the last 10 years at an institution other than Western Sydney University.
  • Average mark of 70+ in psychology subjects equivalent to Level 2 and 3.

Entry into the Graduate Diploma in Psychology is restricted by supervisory capacity. Limited places are available in this program and meeting the admission criteria does not guarantee entry. No deferrals will be accepted for this program.

International qualifications must be assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and deemed equivalent to an Australian 3 year accredited sequence in psychology.
