About

This program is accredited by the Australian College of Health Service Management, and is designed for managers who require skills in contemporary management and their application in the health care setting. This includes specialty subjects such as organisational governance and performance management, health workforce planning, as well as quality and safety in health care. Particular emphasis is placed on critical and analytical skills in policy analysis, economic evaluation and epidemiology, providing graduates with the ability to respond creatively to changes as they arise.

Our students develop practical skills in community development and health promotion programs, as well as completing research and practical experience in the evaluation of a contemporary issue in health science. Graduates of this programs are strongly equipped to be health managers who remain up to date with emerging business developments and can evaluate and implement appropriate initiatives in the health care setting.

This program offers a wide variety of options, with flexible delivery, taught by experts in the field. Flexible entry and exit points are available.

Admission criteria

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application. Applications from Opal Aged Care employees need to be accompanied by a Statement of Service from Opal Aged Care in order to be eligible for, and processed as, an Opal Aged Care scholarship recipient.

Master of Health Science 2 year Pathway (160 credit points)

Either:

  • undergraduate, master or doctoral degree in any discipline; or
  • graduate diploma or graduate certificate in any discipline and three years’ full-time equivalent work experience in a relevant health-related discipline.

Master of Health Science 1.5 year Pathway (120 credit points)

Undergraduate degree or graduate certificate in a relevant health-related discipline.

Master of Health Science 1 year Pathway (80 credit points)

Undergraduate honours, graduate diploma, masters or doctoral degree in a relevant health-related discipline.
