About

Designed for both clinicians (medical, nursing and allied health) and practitioners from health-related fields (public health, environmental health, communicable disease control) who want to improve their knowledge in key areas of health-related research, this two-year program gives students the vital skills and knowledge to combat disease, improve global health and establish effective public health policy. Core subjects include epidemiology and biostatistics, while our range of specialist electives covers areas like disease surveillance, statistical modelling and research protocol design. 

Admission criteria

Master of Epidemiology 2 year pathway (160 credit points) 

Either:

  • undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline; or
  • advanced diploma in a related discipline and five years’ full-time equivalent work experience at a managerial or professional level in roles in a health, welfare or aged care discipline.

Master of Epidemiology 1.5 year pathway (120 credit points) 

Either:

  • undergraduate degree in health, welfare or aged care; or
  • undergraduate degree in any discipline and two years’ full-time equivalent relevant professional work experience or five years’ full time equivalent work experience in a related field.

Master of Epidemiology 1 year pathway (80 credit points) 

Either:

  • undergraduate (Honours) degree, or higher, in health, welfare or aged care; or
  • undergraduate degree in health, welfare or aged care and two years’ full-time equivalent relevant professional work experience or five years’ full time equivalent work experience in a related field.
