About

Financial Technology (FinTech) is growing exponentially and is transforming the future of business. Built on the intersection of finance and information technology, organisations across various industries are seeking graduates with skills and knowledge in this area to help identify new opportunities for disrupting markets, services and driving positive change. 

The Master of Financial Technology is aimed at students aspiring to pursue a career within the growing FinTech field covering the impact of technology and its impact on banking and the global payment systems, the insurance industry and trading in financial markets.

Throughout the degree you will learn through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to modern technological developments in the financial sector. You will undertake subjects in data programming, information visualisation and machine learning, explore case studies, engage with industry partners and apply your knowledge in a FinTech research project. 

Admission criteria

Either:

  • an Australian bachelor degree, or recognised equivalent, with an equivalent average mark of 50%; or
  • a UOW Graduate Certificate in Financial Technology.

Applicants with other relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial relevant professional or managerial experience should contact UOW to discuss their options.

Fees and charges

This course will be offered as a Commonwealth supported place (CSP). This means the Australian government will subsidise your tuition fees by up to 75%. To be eligible for this fee subsidy, you must meet the following criteria: Be a domestic student, i.e. an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or a permanent Australian Humanitarian visa holder.
