This program is designed for midwives who wish to re-register as a midwife with AHPRA and re-enter the workforce. Students will be orientated to the midwife’s professional obligations in meeting all Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia codes, standards, and guidelines, and meet their legal and ethical obligations as a registered midwife. There will be a focus on critical thinking, clinical reasoning, reflection and the use of current evidence and research to make sound clinical judgments to practice safely in maternity environments. Students will complete 360 hours of supernumerary clinical practice in this 14 week program.
Students will explore current and emerging national and regional health priorities, health research, health policy and reform.
Midwifery degree or postgraduate diploma of midwifery. Must have been previously registered with AHPRA and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Must not have been more than 10 years off the register.
