About

This program is designed for nurses re-entering the workforce or nurses seeking to update their knowledge and skills.

Students will be orientated to the nurse’s professional obligations in meeting all Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) codes, standards and guidelines and to meet their legal and ethical obligations as a registered nurse. There will be a focus on critical thinking, clinical reasoning, reflection and the use of current evidence and research to make sound clinical judgments to practice safely in a complex health environment. Students will explore current and emerging national and regional health priorities, health research, health policy and reform. Medication management, pharmacology and the relationship to physiology and pathophysiology will be addressed. Patient centered care, communication and cultural competence will be explored in both the theoretical and professional practice components of the program. There will also be a focus on caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, mental health and emerging contemporary health issues.

To be eligible for registration students must also meet the NMBA registration standards.
