About

The law forms the foundation on which civilised societies are based. In fact, it underpins many of society’s social, economic and scientific challenges. Having a knowledge of law will allow you to expertly respond to a range of individual, corporate, national and global problems.

The Juris Doctor will prepare you for a range of careers in Australia and globally, as well as satisfy the educational requirements to become a legal practitioner. It continues Macquarie’s tradition of providing interdisciplinary and contextual perspectives on the study of law.

Admission criteria

One of the following:

  • AQF level 7 bachelor qualification or recognised equivalent with a WAM of 65
  • AQF level 8 bachelor honours or graduate diploma qualification or recognised equivalent with a WAM of 65
  • AQF level 9 masters by coursework or above qualification or recognised equivalent with a WAM of 65
  • Graduate Certificate of Laws completed at Macquarie University.

and

Where a student holds more than one degree, Macquarie bases assessment on the degree with the best WAM.

Two types of places, a Commonwealth-supported place (CSP) and a fee-paying (FEE) place, are available in this course. Limited CSPs are available and will be awarded on the competitive basis of academic merit.

If you wish to be considered for both a CSP and FEE place, list both courses in order of preference.
