About

In this double degree, you will be able to combine:

Master of Criminology: This course will develop your skills in advanced criminology theory, applied criminological research and criminal justice policy analysis. As a graduate you'll use your knowledge drawn from fields including sociology, psychology, psychiatry and social anthropology to better understand, measure and evaluate crime.

Master of Public and Social Policy: With its dual focus on policy analysis and applied social research, this unique degree will give you a deep understanding of the forces that shape policy and the processes involved in making it. You’ll develop advanced skills in critical analysis to help you design and deliver effective policy solutions that serve the public interest, as well as the confidence to make socially informed judgements in a range of specialist policy areas.

Admission criteria

One of the following:

  • an AQF level 8 bachelor honours or graduate diploma qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent; or

meet two of these three criteria:

  • AQF level 7 bachelor qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent
  • minimum two years of relevant approved work experience at senior management level, professional certification or other recognised prior learning
  • AQF level 7 bachelor qualification or recognised equivalent with a Weighted Average Mark of 65

and

Relevant experience

In public and social policy: Policy advisers, policy officers, policy managers and other policy practitioners and researchers in the public, private or NGO sectors; government relations practitioners, equity officers, social program managers, senior social service practitioners, social researchers.

In criminology: Police Force, Customs/Border Force and law (seniority: Police – Senior Sergeant (equiv) or above), Public Service APS 5 (equiv) or above.
