The Graduate Certificate in Event Management is designed for working professionals seeking formal qualifications as well as students who wish to develop knowledge and skills relevant to the event sector.

This postgraduate qualification is designed to expose students to contemporary event management theories, concepts and skills that are the basis of successful events across a range of economic sectors. Students will learn how to critically interpret and evaluate the impacts, trends and issues associated with event management, as well as how to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.  

Upon successful competition of the Graduate Certificate in Event Management, students may be eligible to articulate (enter) into the ICMS Master of Event Management.

Admission criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • successful completion of an undergraduate bachelor degree (AQF Level 7) from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent
  • successful completion of a four-year international degree (recognised minimum equivalent to an AQF 6 by the Australian Government's qualifications recognition tool) with a GPA of 2.5 (4-point scale) or higher
  • successful completion of a recognised diploma or advanced diploma (or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Government's qualifications recognition tool) with at least four years of relevant full-time work experience
  • at least five years of appropriate full-time managerial or professional experience
  • completion of at least two non-award postgraduate subjects with an overall GPA of at least 2.5 (where the GPA is calculated over all attempts including fail grades).

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a full statement of service for all work experience listed. The statement must contain independent evidence of the duration and level of work experience.
