Excelsia College’s Master of Teaching (Secondary) is underpinned by a Christian world view and designed to give you the tools to inspire hope, ignite imagination, and instil a love of learning in the children and young adults you teach.
Domestic students have the flexibility to choose between fully online or study some units on campus. For international students, the course is exclusively offered on campus.
One of the best things about studying a Master of Teaching (Secondary) with Excelsia College is its practical philosophy of skills-based learning. In any given semester you’ll study a mix of foundation units, like cultural perspectives or psychology for teachers, along with curriculum studies such as English, mathematics, physics, drama, history, music and design and technology.
Areas of study include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, cultural perspectives, foundations of teaching and learning, psychology for teachers, teaching biblical studies, teaching for diverse abilities.
Upon completion on this degree career opportunities include Secondary school teacher, work in various government departments, private organisations and not-for-profit institutions.
Students will undertake professional experience in a number of different schools. These practicums (Professional Experience I, II and III) provide a rewarding, firsthand secondary teaching experience that will help you gain insight into your capabilities.
Applicants may be admitted to the Master of Teaching (Secondary) upon successful completion of an accredited bachelor’s degree with a major study in a designated area related to the first school subject they wish to teach. Specifically, this requires in the undergraduate degree:
