Bridging course for Master of Social Work (Qualifying).
The Graduate Diploma of Social Science is designed for students who apply for the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) without the required social science units in their undergraduate degree. Admission into the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) is based on applicants having completed a relevant bachelor (AQF level 7) degree that contains at least one year, or the equivalent (8 units) of full-time studies in the social and behavioural sciences. The prerequisite studies are broadly assessed and include sociology, psychology, human development, education, women’s studies, anthropology, philosophy, public policy, international development, international relations, community development, legal studies, media, allied health, counselling, welfare studies, disability, human geography, criminology, public health, indigenous studies, and health promotion.
Areas of study include critical thinking and reflection in social work, development and diversity, ethical issues and practice, psychology for social work, relational dynamics, social and political institutions in Australia, sociology for social work.
