About

In our Bachelor of Health Information Management, you’ll explore the clinical and business sides of healthcare. You’ll develop a comprehensive skillset in clinical classification, data analytics, health informatics and health systems management.

You’ll then deepen your technical and professional expertise through 55 days of supervised professional placement over three placement experiences. With the perfect blend of expertise and experience, you’ll graduate ready to work in all areas of healthcare.

You can select from on-campus to online study – or a combination of both. Recognition of prior industry-specific experience may be available for eligible applicants.

Practical experience

During this course, you will participate in one or more compulsory supervised work-based learning (WBL) placements designed to allow you to practise newly acquired skills, behaviours and knowledge while integrating theory with practice. Essential requirements for admission

Immunisation: A schedule of mandatory immunisations are required. Students must visit a medical practitioner who will complete and sign the Immunisation and Health Record form. Further information will be provided post enrolment.

Police record check: Applicants will be required to hold a valid Police Record Check. For more information and costs refer to the Victoria Police website.

Working with Children Check: Successful applicants will be required to hold a valid Working with Children check. For information please refer to the Working with Children Check Victoria website.

Prerequisites

One of English Standard, English Advanced (Band 3), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 4), plus Band 2 in one of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 2, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) or Physics.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Subject adjustments: Applicants who successfully complete one of the following HSC or equivalent Year 12 subjects will have their selection rank increased by one point per study:

  • Band 3 in Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 2, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, Physics.
  • Band 2 in any Language other than English.

Selection ranks can be increased by a maximum of five points.

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
