Website troubleshooting FAQs

  • I'm having problems finding information using UAC's website. What can I do?

If you are having problems finding the information you need, try the website footer, or use the site search located at the top right hand corner of each website page.

If you still can't find what you are looking for, contact UAC using the enquiry form.

  • What do I do if UAC's website is slow?

Peak times may reduce website performance.

    Try the following:

    • Check other sites. If other sites are also slow the problem could be caused by the computer you are using, or the speed of your Internet connection.
    • Contact your ISP and find out if they are experiencing congestion or service outages.
    • Record the time of day and the page you were attempting to visit. If you contact us we will need to know this information so that we can follow up on your problem.

Use the enquiry form to tell us the:

    • type of computer you are using (PC or Mac)
    • operating system (Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/VISTA) or what Mac OS X version you are currently running
    • web browser and version you are using (Firefox, Internet Explorer or others).
    • ISP you use
    • type of connection (dial-up modem, network, cable modem/internet)
    • what page or application you were trying to access and at what time.

Alternatively, you may have visited the UAC website at a busy time. Try accessing the UAC website at a different time of day when response times may be faster.

  • Some of the material on the UAC website seems to be out of date. Is there a problem?

Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) keep a copy of a website you have visited on a local server known as a proxy or cache server. This means that every time one of their users wants to view a web page, a request is not sent to the UAC web server but a copy of the page is instead sent to the proxy or cache. Sometimes this is updated just once per month. Your computer may also have stored pages you have visited in its cache.

The UAC website is updated regularly, so you should always click on Reload or Refresh if you have previously experienced caching problems when you visit the UAC website. This will ensure that you always see the latest version of any UAC web page.

For further information read clearing your computer's cache.

Clearing the browser cache will solve many Apply-By-Web technical issues.
