Entry is based on competition as places may be limited and some courses may have additional selection requirements.
- Do I need to provide UAC with my IB results?
Current IB Diploma students
Read the following if you're eligible to apply through UAC and you're currently attempting the IB Diploma or Bilingual Diploma in Australia or overseas.
(a) If you've authorised release of your results to UAC via the Request for Results Service on IBIS, UAC will receive your IB results directly from the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). Contact your school's IB co-ordinator before the deadline to confirm that your school has submitted this request via IBIS on your behalf.
(b) If you've not authorised release of your results to UAC via the Request for Results Service on IBIS by the deadline, you must supply correctly verified documentary evidence of your official IB results as soon as they become available.
Alternatively, you can request IBO to release your results to UAC. Follow the process outlined in the Obtaining transcripts section on the IBO's website.Previous IB Diploma students

- Will I receive an ATAR for my IB Diploma results?
No. IB Diploma candidates are not eligible to receive an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). An ATAR is only calculated for students sitting an Australian Year 12 qualification in NSW, ACT, South Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, who satisfy requirements. Students who sit an Australian year 12 in Queensland and satisfy requirements, will receive an ATAR equivalent.
You'll receive a UAC rank based on your total score if you've been awarded the IB Diploma or Bilingual Diploma.
The process used to determine university selection ranks for International Baccalaureate students in Australia has not changed as a result of the change from UAI to ATAR. UAC has sent a letter to IB students in NSW and ACT.
- Do I receive a higher rank if I've been awarded an IB Bilingual Diploma?
No.
- What happens if I was not awarded an IB Diploma but received an IB Certificate/s instead?
If you were not awarded the IB Diploma and only achieved an IB Certificate you won't be eligible for a UAC rank. You may, however, be considered for an offer through UAC where offers are based solely on other selection criteria. Note that only a very small number of courses make offers based solely on other selection criteria.
Check with participating institutions admissions offices for further information about alternative pathways. - How does UAC calculate the UAC rank from my IB results?
