Changing courses using Check & Change FAQs

After you've applied you can change your courses through Check & Change. There's no UAC charge to change your courses.

You can't change preferences in writing, by telephone or email.

  • How do I change my course preferences?

    You can add, delete, or change the order of your courses using Check & Change.

    First, read the closing dates listed in the course search, then follow the instructions in Check & Change. There is no UAC charge to change your preferences.

    You can't change your courses by telephone, letter, fax or email.

  • What is the deadline for changing courses?

    You can change your courses for semester 1 as many times as you like between August 2011 and early February 2012. Remember that some courses, particularly those with additional selection criteria, have early closing dates. This means that you must list the course as a preference by the course closing date.

    If your application is agent-assisted, you'll need to enter an agent for each new institution you choose.

    If you receive an offer in any offer run you can change your courses for the next offer run up until the closing date.

  • Does the order of my courses matter?

    Yes, put the courses in the order you'd most like them to be considered. Put the course you'd most like to do first, then the course you'd next prefer to do, and so on. This is because during the selection process, your courses are considered one at a time in the order in which you've them listed on your application.

    If you're not selected for your first course preference you'll be considered equally with all other eligible applicants for your second course preference and so on.

  • Can someone change courses on my behalf?

    Yes, but you must provide UAC with written authority for someone to act on your behalf.

    If you didn't already do this when you applied, write to UAC and include your UAC application number, name and signature and the signature of the person you're authorising to act on your behalf.

  • Do I need to change my courses between offer runs?

    No, not unless you've changed your mind about what you want to study. If you receive an offer to your first course preference in one offer run you won't be considered for your lower courses in subsequent offer runs unless you change your courses.
