Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. About
Speech pathologists assess and treat people who have a communication or swallowing disorder. Communication disorders include using and understanding language, voice, fluency, hearing, reading and writing.
This is a people-oriented profession which requires resilience and flexibility. Students are required to communicate fluently and effectively, in high-level spoken and written English.Areas of study
Anatomy, audiology, linguistics and language development, neurobiology, phonetics, psychology, research methods, speech pathology specialist areas (eg aphasia, cleft palate, dysarthria, dyslexia, stuttering, hearing loss).
Career opportunities
Speech pathologists work in health and community settings, including community health centres, disability services, hospitals, NGOs, mental health services, justice, private practice, schools, early intervention centres, public health, and rehabilitation centres.

Practical experience
Observation commences in first year and clinical practice starts in second year. Clinical education occurs in the on-campus clinic, hospitals, community health centres, developmental disability services, schools and specialist clinics. Clinical placements are arranged for students and are likely to occur in holiday periods. At least one placement will take place outside of the Sydney metropolitan area. Students are responsible for additional costs, such as accommodation and travel.
