^ The annual tuition fees listed are indicative fees for study in Year 1, in the 2024 calendar year only. Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. For students enrolling in a combined degree, in most cases a single course tuition fee applies for the duration of your study in the combined degree, regardless of the units of study that are selected in each of the two qualifications (eg a B Arts and B Laws). About

This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to perform a range of medical imaging examinations, translating referrals into images that enable an accurate interpretation of a patient's condition. You will learn the knowledge and skills to acquire images with varied equipment ranging from small or mobile X-ray machines to larger units like MRI, CT and cardiac suites as well as attributes for patient care. Diagnostic radiographers work closely with radiologists in imaging and treating all regions of the body, and work with other medical specialists such as surgeons, cardiologists and as part of emergency medicine teams to perform imaging during operations and acute care. Radiography is a physically demanding profession and will require you to be able to move and handle patients and large motorised equipment.

Diagnostic radiographers in the hospital system, community health and private practice; clinical application specialist or researcher.

Professional recognition

Registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.

Practical experience

Placements are required to fulfil accreditation requirements. You will complete clinical placements in your second, third and fourth years. Placements are integrated into the course and may take place during holiday periods and will be undertaken in both city and regional/rural areas. You will be responsible for additional costs including accommodation and travel.

Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Advanced, Physics.

Recommended studies: Biology and/or Chemistry.

Bridging courses are available for students who have not studied the assumed knowledge during secondary school.
