About

In La Trobe’s Bachelor of Exercise Science, you’ll explore the fundamentals of human bioscience through anatomy, biomechanics, exercise psychology and physiology. You’ll then learn how to change community behaviours, fine tune individual training to optimise performance, and work with groups such as the elderly, adolescents and athletes undergoing rehabilitation.

Through 140 hours of industry placements, you’ll graduate with the flexibility to launch your career or pursue further study with our Master of Exercise Physiology and Master of Physiotherapy Practice.

Practical experience

During this course, you will participate in one or more supervised Work Based Learning (WBL) placements designed to allow you to practice newly acquired skills, behaviours and knowledge while integrating theory with practice. The placements will immerse you in professional work culture, enabling you to develop and further enhance your skills.

Prerequisites

One of English Standard, English Advanced (Band 2), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 3) plus Band 2 in one of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 2, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) or Physics.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Subject adjustments: Applicants who successfully complete one of the following HSC or equivalent Year 12 courses will have their selection rank increased by one point per study:

  • Band 3 in Ancient History, Business Studies, Economics, Financial Services, Geography, Legal Studies, Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 2, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE), Society and Culture, Studies in Religion II ;
  • Band 2 in any language other than English.

Selection ranks can be increased by a maximum of five points.

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
