About

The Bachelor of Psychological Science, through its APAC-accredited sequence in psychology, provides a comprehensive coverage of psychology, with studies in interpersonal communication skills, lifespan development, biological psychology, social psychology, abnormal psychology, individual differences, cross-cultural psychology, and other areas of applied psychology as well as research methods.  Students will graduate with sought-after skills in research, communication and problem-solving. The course also offers a four-unit minor, equipping students well for a diverse range of careers and/or further study in psychology and human behaviour.

Child welfare and development, community work, education, health, human resources, marketing and market research, registered practising psychologist (with postgraduate study).

Professional recognition

This course is currently accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and undergoing scheduled re-accreditation for 2025 onwards. Upon completion of an APAC-accredited undergraduate degree, students who go on to complete Honours in Psychology will be eligible for provisional registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Note that after completion of an APAC-accredited undergraduate degree, a further minimum of three years education and training in psychology is required to register as a psychologist in Australia.

Practical experience

100 hours of community engagement during third year. Before students can begin community engagement for this course, they may have to meet mandatory state or territory legal and industry policy requirements.

Honours

Available as an additional year to meritorious students who wish to undertake research training to make a contribution to scholarship and evidence-based psychology practice.
