About
The Bachelor of Psychology Bachelor of Criminology brings together knowledge acquisition and skillsets. This combined degree in Psychology and Criminology will develop your skills in applied criminology to better understand, measure, and evaluate crime and its effects, while also addressing the mental health workforce gap in Australia.
You will gain broad and coherent knowledge of psychology as you complete subjects in developmental psychology, perceptual and cognitive processes, brain and behaviour, research methods and statistics, health psychology, mental health conditions and psychological wellbeing, individual differences and psychological assessment, social, positive, and forensic psychology, as well as a career readiness subject offering applied knowledge of, and preparation for, diverse career opportunities available with a psychology degree.
The course will also equip students with an understanding of the factors associated with crime, disorder, and threats to public safety as well as those who are involved in criminal behaviour, those who are affected by such behaviour, and those who respond to crime events. With a strong applied and industry-focused curriculum, students will learn and develop industry-relevant skills along with strong theoretical and practice-based knowledge. Development of transferable skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making are also at the core of this program.

Professional recognition
The Bachelor of Psychology Bachelor of Criminology is a four-year undergraduate degree. It provides the first step (i.e., Level 1 foundational competencies*) on the pathway toward becoming a professionally accredited psychologist in Australia. As a graduate of this degree, you will be able to apply for further training in APAC Level 2 pre-professional competencies.
