^ The annual tuition fees listed are indicative fees for study in Year 1, in the 2024 calendar year only. Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. About

In this double degree you will complete units in human biology, chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology, human physiology, food science and nutrition science, which are the necessary prerequisites for accreditation by the Dietitians Australia. A credit average in Bachelor of Science is necessary for progression into the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. The first-year units of study of Master of Nutrition and Dietetics must be completed before you can undertake the research and professional placements

Areas of study

For Bachelor of Science: You will need to complete a program in nutrition and dietetics including a major in nutrition science. A minor or second major must also be taken from those available in 513910 Bachelor of Science Table A or the wide range majors offered from areas across the University in Table S. For Master of Nutrition and Dietetics: Medical nutrition therapy, or public health nutrition, food service management.

Dietitian in private practice, community health, food service management, food industry, nutritional researcher, hospital dietitian.

Industry experience: The Master of Nutrition and Dietetics includes 20 weeks of individual case management, community and food service placement training. You will also undertake research that may include laboratory work or a supervised hospital project.

Professional recognition

The Master of Nutrition and Dietetics is currently accredited by the Dietitians Australia.

Prerequisites

For 2024: Mathematics Advanced (Band 4) or Mathematics Extension 1 (Band E3) or Mathematics Extension 2 (Band E3). From 2025: None.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Assumed knowledge: For Science; Mathematics Advanced, Chemistry and Biology. All students must take some units of study in mathematics during their undergraduate degree. Other assumed knowledge depends on major or units of study chosen.

Guaranteed selection rank: This course does not have a guaranteed ATAR. For most applicants, the expected ATAR required will be 97.50 or higher.

Dalyell Scholars: This stream for high achieving students (ATAR of 98.00 or higher) provides mentorship, professional skills development, academic enrichment opportunities and access to a global mobility scholarship. Entry to the Dalyell Scholars stream is by invitation.
