^ The annual tuition fees listed are indicative fees for study in Year 1, in the 2024 calendar year only. Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. For students enrolling in a combined degree, in most cases a single course tuition fee applies for the duration of your study in the combined degree, regardless of the units of study that are selected in each of the two qualifications (eg a B Arts and B Laws). Importantly, the indicative tuition fee listed for Year 1, 2024 is subject to annual review and will increase each year of your study in the combined degree. The tuition fee structure is different for double degrees where a bachelor degree is combined with a postgraduate degree (eg D Medicine or D Dental Medicine, B Veterinary Biology/D Veterinary Medicine)).
About
The Double Degree Medicine program comprises a three-year undergraduate degree in either arts or science, followed by the four-year graduate-entry Doctor of Medicine degree. Refer to 513200 Bachelor of Arts and 513910 Bachelor of Science for the undergraduate component.
In order to progress to the Doctor of Medicine, you need to meet all progression requirements (including satisfactorily completing a zero-credit point unit of study in Medicine) during your first-degree studies, as specified under the Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine or Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine course rules found in the respective faculty handbook.
You will then be able to begin the Doctor of Medicine without being required to sit for the Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) or the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT), or to participate in the selection process for entry into the Doctor of Medicine.
Areas of study
Arts: A major from 513200 Bachelor of Arts Table A, another major, or a minor, units from the Open Learning Environment, and elective units from Table S.
Science: A major from 513910 Bachelor of Science Table A and a second major, or a minor and elective units, from Table A or Table S, and the Open Learning Environment. Successful applicants for the Bachelor of Science have the option to enrol in the Medical Science stream. For more information on this option refer to 513925 Bachelor of Science (Medical Science).
Career opportunities
General practice or specialisation. Following a compulsory internship, most doctors obtain additional hospital experience. Experience and study under the supervision of one of the specialist colleges is required before gaining specialist qualifications or vocational registration as a general practitioner.
Professional recognition
Graduates are eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Practical experience
You will undertake clinical placements. throughout the Doctor of Medicine. Contact with patients and observation of the physical aspects of disease commences in the first year of the Doctor of Medicine and continues to the final year.

Essential requirements for admission
Additional selection criteria: Entry to the Double Degree Medicine program is extremely competitive and up to 30 domestic and 10 international places may be offered. Admission is on the basis of your selection rank (domestic applicants) and ATAR (international applicants) (indicative selection rank/ATAR of 99.95 for 2025 entry) and performance in an assessment process, including a written assessment and a panel discussion session. The assessments will be held from December 2024 and you will be contacted by text message, email or telephone if you are eligible. Assessment dates are not negotiable and eligible Year 12 candidates must attend the first assessment day after the release of their ATAR results.
You are only eligible for admission to the first available course intake following receipt of your final results. If your results are not available in time to be considered for the 2025 intake (ie prior to the issue of invitations to the January 2025 assessment) you may be eligible to apply for the 2026 intake.

Important note: There are limited places available for this course. Applicants who receive an unconditional offer must confirm their place and enrol within ten calendar days of the date of their offer letter or the offer will lapse.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants who wish to be considered under the Gadigal Program need to submit their UAC application along with a separate Gadigal Program application directly to the University. Up to five places may be offered under this program and selection is on the basis of your ATAR (indicative ATAR of 90.00 for 2025 entry) and performance in an assessment process, including a written assessment and a panel discussion session. Applicants with recent secondary education
Assumed knowledge: Refer to 513200 Bachelor of Arts and 513910 Bachelor of Science. For students undertaking the Medical Science Stream in the Bachelor of Science: Chemistry, Biology.
