^ The annual tuition fees listed are indicative fees for study in Year 1, in the 2024 calendar year only. Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. For students enrolling in a combined degree, in most cases a single course tuition fee applies for the duration of your study in the combined degree, regardless of the units of study that are selected in each of the two qualifications (eg a B Arts and B Laws). Importantly, the indicative tuition fee listed for Year 1, 2024 is subject to annual review and will increase each year of your study in the combined degree. About

This degree combines practical learning and industry experience allowing you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the process involved in the design, manufacture and operation of aircraft within the Earth's atmosphere and in space. You will work on actual aircraft and aircraft components to measure structural, aerodynamic and flight characteristics. Practical simulation using wind tunnel technology and flight simulators is a component of the course.

You may apply to change your chosen Engineering stream after enrolment. Any change should be made as early as possible in the program to limit the need for catch-up work and to ensure satisfactory completion of the requirements for the new stream.

Areas of study

Aeronautical Engineering: aerospace design, aerospace research, engineering aerodynamics, flight data analysis. Other specialisations available include: computer systems, engineering data science, humanitarian engineering, innovation and entrepreneurship

Aerospace/aircraft design, aircraft manufacturing and certification, computer and software engineer, control of machines, design engineer, designer of low-speed aerodynamic systems such as automobile design and navigation, structural analysis.

This degree is accredited by Engineers Australia. Our graduates are recognised internationally through the Washington Accord of the International Engineering Alliance.

Practical experience

All Bachelor of Engineering Honours students in both single and combined degrees are required to undertake a minimum level of professional engagement activities (such as industry placements).

Prerequisites

Mathematics Advanced (Band 4) or Mathematics Extension 1 (Band E3) or Mathematics Extension 2 (Band E3).

Applicants with recent secondary education

Assumed knowledge: For 2024: Mathematics Extension 1, Physics. From 2025: Mathematics Extension 1. Recommended studies: Physics may help you prepare for this course.
