About
This course focuses on performance within a general music degree. You will combine your chosen principal study with orchestral studies and chamber music, and core studies. Your studies allow you to develop as a musician and build your experience of current approaches to music. Performance students receive individual tuition on their instrument or voice and will be assessed in the final two years of the degree by the presentation of public recitals.
Areas of study
Principal study in jazz studies, classical instrument or vocal performance, historical performance, music theatre, drum set or non-western music. Studies are also undertaken in analysis, history and cultural studies, and music skills (aural perception, harmony and analysis).

Essential requirements for admission
Audition: In addition to the UAC application, you must register for an audition directly with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Selection into the Sydney Conservatorium of Music programs is by audition and/or interview, and ATAR. You will undertake an audition in a nominated instrument or in voice. A non-refundable administration fee is charged for all applications.

Creative Arts Special Admission Scheme (CASAS)
Under the University’s Creative Arts Special Admission Scheme Domestic applicants for the Bachelor of Music (Performance) undertaking a current recognised high school (Year 12) qualification and applying via UAC, may be eligible for an early offer of admission prior to the release of ATARs or equivalent score. Eligible applicants will be automatically assessed based on a combination of academic performance and audition/portfolio.
