Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. For students enrolling in a combined degree, in most cases a single course tuition fee applies for the duration of your study in the combined degree, regardless of the units of study that are selected in each of the two qualifications (eg a B Arts and B Laws). About
This course focuses on architecture and design in the built environment and covers the creative, aesthetic, technical and critical thinking skills required to produce innovative architecture. You will explore professional practice design processes and engage in studio work, lectures, seminars, field trips and workshops. You will be taught by leading academics and industry professionals and graduate with the skills needed to work both in Australia and abroad.
Areas of study
Core studies in architectural design and architectural communications, architectural history and theory, architectural technologies, architecture workshops, sustainability and professional practice. Electives may be taken both within the School and from other areas of the University.
Career opportunities
Architect (with further study), architectural practice leader, architectural technologist, heritage conservator, interior and special designer, project manager, property developer, urban and regional planner, urban designer.
Professional recognition
The course followed by Master of Architecture is accredited for professional recognition by the NSW Architects Registration Board, the Australian Institute of Architects and the Commonwealth Association of Architects. If followed by Master of Urban and Regional Planning, it leads to professional registration with the Planning Institute of Australia. If followed by Master of Architectural Science (Illumination Design) it leads to accreditation by the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand. Both degrees have international recognition.
Practical experience
Dedicated studios and computer laboratories with 24-hour access. Analogue and digital fabrication equipment in the design modelling and fabrication labs.
Fees and charges

Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Advanced, English Advanced.

Portfolio admissions pathway
You are invited to submit a portfolio of work in support of your application for Architecture and Design courses. The portfolio will be considered as part of your application if your ATAR (or equivalent) is up to five points below the guaranteed ATAR for your desired course. The portfolio should demonstrate your skills and interest in design and creativity, as well as your capacity to succeed in academic study. The portfolio may include for example, artwork, architectural work, web design or development, 3D modelling, technical drawing or written work.
The portfolio should be submitted to the University at the same time you submit you UAC application. Please note that the portfolio admissions pathway is only open to domestic applicants. Open Learning Environment (OLE) courses are short, on-demand and workshop-supported. They enable you to broaden your skills in areas such as entrepreneurial thinking, persuasive communication, project management and ethical reasoning. Zero credit point OLEs are available to all students at the University, while students in liberal studies degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce or combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies) and some specialist degrees (Bachelor of Economics) will be required to take 12 credit points of OLE units during their studies.
