^ The annual tuition fees listed are indicative fees for study in Year 1, in the 2024 calendar year only. Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. For students enrolling in a combined degree, in most cases a single course tuition fee applies for the duration of your study in the combined degree, regardless of the units of study that are selected in each of the two qualifications (eg a B Arts and B Laws). About
In the Bachelor of Design (Interaction Design) you will learn to combine technical design skills such as programming, interface and intelligent systems design with critical and creative user-centred, ethical and social design practices. You will have the opportunity to put those skills into practice, solving real world problems in design studio units. You will study a combination of social and technology-centred design, with the opportunity to specialise in either. In this degree you will gain skills in and understanding of experience and service design, emergent technologies, and the role of interaction design. You will also have access to majors, minors and electives from other faculties through the University’s Shared Pool.
Areas of study
App design, creative technology, design thinking, graphic design, information architecture, physical computing, sound design, user experience (UX) and user-centred design. The four design studios focus on user experience design, interaction design, information visualisation, and interactive product design.
Related units may be taken from arts and social sciences, business, engineering, computer science, music and visual arts. In the combined Bachelor of Design (Interaction Design) and Bachelor of Advanced Studies, you will also take a major from the shared pool. In the final year of the combined degree, you will undertake advanced coursework and a substantial real-world industry, community, entrepreneurship or research project, or an honours project.

Practical experience
Dedicated computer laboratories and fabrication facilities with 24-hour access. An internship is available as an elective.

Portfolio admissions pathway
You are invited to submit a portfolio of work in support of your application for Architecture and Design courses. The portfolio will be considered as part of your application if your ATAR (or equivalent) is up to five points below the guaranteed ATAR for your desired course. The portfolio should demonstrate your skills and interest in design and creativity, as well as your capacity to succeed in academic study. The portfolio may include for example, artwork, architectural work, web design or development, 3D modelling, technical drawing or written work.
The portfolio should be submitted to the University at the same time you submit your UAC application. Please note that the portfolio admissions pathway is only open to domestic applicants.
