^ The annual tuition fees listed are indicative fees for study in Year 1, in the 2024 calendar year only. Fees are based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load for the year is more or less than 1.0 EFTSL, your tuition fee will differ. Importantly, tuition fees are subject to annual review by the University, and will increase each calendar year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year. For students enrolling in a combined degree, in most cases a single course tuition fee applies for the duration of your study in the combined degree, regardless of the units of study that are selected in each of the two qualifications (eg a B Arts and B Laws). Importantly, the indicative tuition fee listed for Year 1, 2024 is subject to annual review and will increase each year of your study in the combined degree. About
The Bachelor of Architecture and Environments provides a broad overview of the built environment through studies in design and architecture, urban planning, sustainability, heritage, building systems and construction and property.
Technical and critical expertise is acquired through studio and tutorial work, lab sessions, lectures, seminars, field trips and workshops. You will engage with problems of design related to architecture, materials, energy and sustainability, and urban form. The course equips graduates with the skills needed to work both in Australia and abroad.
Areas of study
Architectural and environmental design, architectural history and theory, architectural sciences and technologies, property and sustainability, urban design and planning. Architecture, design and planning electives may include acoustics, lighting, structure, interaction design. Electives may also be taken in other areas of the University.

Architect (with additional study), environmentally sustainable designer, property and real estate agent, construction manager, project manager, sustainable design adviser/consultant, urban designer, urban planner.
Professional recognition
This course, followed by the Master of Architecture, is accredited for professional recognition by the NSW Architects Registration Board, the Australian Institute of Architects and the Commonwealth Association of Architects. Both degrees have international recognition. If followed by Master of Urban and Regional Planning, it leads to professional registration with the Planning Institute of Australia. If followed by Master of Architectural Science (Illumination Design) it leads to accreditation by the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Practical experience
Dedicated studios and computer laboratories with 24-hour access and analogue and digital fabrication equipment in the design modelling and fabrication labs.
Fees and charges

Portfolio admissions pathway for domestic applicants
You are invited to submit a portfolio of work in support of your application for Architecture and Design courses. The portfolio will be considered as part of your application if your ATAR (or equivalent) is up to five points below the guaranteed ATAR for your desired course. The portfolio should demonstrate your skills and interest in design and creativity, as well as your capacity to succeed in academic study. The portfolio may include for example, artwork, architectural work, web design or development, 3D modelling, technical drawing or written work.
