About

This course is delivered by UOW College Australia.

The Diploma of Information Technology provides students with access to the university experience within a supported context. In the introductory phase of this course, students will complete subjects specifically designed to develop effective approaches to learning in the higher education context. In sessions 2 and 3, students are provided with a range of experiences and opportunities to engage with key disciplinary areas, including programming, systems analysis and web technology.

Successful completion of the diploma provides entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Business Information Systems, the Bachelor of Computer Science, and the Bachelor of Information Technology, or first year of the Bachelor of Technology at the University of University of Wollongong (UOW).

Areas of study

Concepts and practice of object-oriented programming; fundamental database concepts and skills in the design and manipulation of relational databases; major information systems found in a typical business; structured programming; techniques and technologies of structured systems analysis.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Assumed knowledge: Any 2 units of English.

Recommended studies: Mathematics Advanced.

Selection rank: The guaranteed selection rank for entry to the Diploma of Information Technology is 35.00, or minimum 65% in 4 HSC subjects, or minimum 70% in 3 HSC subjects.

Applicants who do not do not meet the Assumed Knowledge and Recommended Studies' requirement for this course are advised to complete an additional subject - please refer to the Course Outline for further details.

Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study

If you have completed an AQF Certificate IV, AQF Diploma or AQF Advanced Diploma you will be considered for admission to this course.
