Bachelor of Sustainability

The Bachelor of Sustainability will provide you with an understanding of the challenges our world faces, and the ability to manage them in a volatile world.  You will gain career-relevant skills in a practical setting that will set you up for work roles as change agents in the fast-growing ‘green economy’. Our technology-integrated learning ensures that you will graduate with the skills to excel.

A multidisciplinary degree, the Bachelor of Sustainability will equip you to manage complex environmental, economic and societal challenges from multiple perspectives.

This degree will position you to take an active role in building a just and sustainable future by responding to the critical challenges of our times. It will equip you with the skills to develop and implement real solutions for real problems; skills that are widely sought across the public, private and community sectors.

Depending on the pathway you choose, you can study subjects from social sciences and humanities, earth and environmental sciences, and/or business. You will gain skills in sustainability advocacy, logical and critical thinking, creative problem-solving, practical research, quantitative and qualitative data collection, computer applications (including geographic information systems), and visual, verbal, and written communication. The Illawarra region provides an outstanding urban and regional living laboratory in which to explore the challenges of, and solutions to, sustainable communities.  We acknowledge and respect Traditional Custodians and Dharawal and Yuin Countries, where much of our teaching takes place.

Cultural studies, economics and commerce, health and society, human geography, international studies, politics, social policy.

Community development officer, consulting cultural and heritage manager, environmental assessor, geographer, international aid, planning and research officers for local, state or federal government, policy adviser/analyst, program development officer, project worker, research careers, social sustainability manager, sustainability officer/coordinator.

Practical experience

Optional internships, industry projects, and other career-ready learning opportunities.

Honours

Available as an additional year of study to meritorious students.
