About

The Bachelor of Performance and Theatre at UOW is an intensive, practice-based course that inspires and prepares you for a career in the performing arts and broader creative industries. Students perform in major productions in our state-of-the-art facilities. Our staff are industry-based practitioners who are passionate about mentoring performers to reach their artistic potential. They are highly trained specialists in acting, voice, movement, directing, and technical production with strong connections to the performing arts industry.

In this course you will develop as a highly skilled and self-reliant performer. You will learn to apply acting skills and theoretical knowledge to contemporary performance and theatre. Subjects provide rigorous acting training, with opportunities to develop your skills in voice, singing and movement. Through a hands-on approach, you will be learning in practical classes from experienced professional directors.

Throughout your degree, you will produce and perform in your own productions, gaining invaluable, industry-relevant experience, offering many different pathways into the creative industries.

Essential requirements for admission

Audition: In addition to applying through UAC, students are required to audition for the acting major. Auditions can be done either in person on campus in Wollongong, or as a digital audition. You can decide which method suits you. For information on audition requirements and bookings, visit the UOW website.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Assumed knowledge: Any 2 units of English.

Recommended studies: English Advanced, Drama.
