About

Business information specialists analyse business problems and find possible IT solutions for these problems; from running an efficiency audit on a company's information systems to analysing the effectiveness of a file management system and designing business software applications. 

This course is specifically designed to prepare you for a career as a systems analyst or an information systems specialist. As well as having the capability of working in a business environment, graduates can work for the government or non-profit organisations. 

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems provides foundation knowledge of organisational areas in IT, you will also study key commerce subjects such as accounting and management.

You will study business analysis systems and design, programming, data management, and business systems infrastructure and security.

In your final year you will develop your own application as part of a student team project, developing solutions to real-world problems provided by our industry partners. 

Areas of study

Database management and security, networks and communications, human-computer interaction, principles of eBusiness, IT project management and the management of information systems. You will also study key business subjects, such as accounting and management.

Applicants with recent secondary education

Assumed knowledge: Any 2 units of English.

Recommended studies: Mathematics Advanced or Mathematics Standard 2.
