Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

Psychologists help us to understand who we are and how we think, feel, act and change through scientific study of the human mind and its functions, and how they influence behaviour.

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is a four-year undergraduate honours degree which provides comprehensive training in the scientific study of human behaviour and experience, the physiological, sensory and cognitive processes that underlie it, and how the profession applies this knowledge to practical problems.

The degree contains a significant research thesis along with coursework where you will learn how the science and practice of psychology is influenced by social, historical, professional and cultural contexts, and knowledge of ethical behaviour. 

The Bachelor of Psychology is a route to postgraduate coursework or research degrees in psychology. It is also a partial qualification for provisional registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Psychology, including biological and social bases of behaviour, cognition, learning, perception, social psychology, clinical psychology, counselling psychology, personality, abnormality, and research and assessment tools.

Career opportunities

Drug and alcohol counselling, health education, human resource management, industrial relations and market research, clinical psychology and counselling psychology.

Professional recognition

Accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council for provisional registration as a psychologist. Further postgraduate study and training is required for full accreditation.

Honours

An Honours thesis is integrated into the fourth year of this degree. Minimum performance requirements must be met to maintain eligiblity for progression into the Honours year.
