With the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – Bachelor of Business double degree, you will gain both the technical skills of engineering and the interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills of business. You will learn how to build, market, finance, and manage projects. These skills will help you to launch your career, solving some of the world’s biggest

You will benefit from the expertise of our teaching staff who are some of the best in their fields. You will study a common first year in engineering designed to help you gain a sound understanding of the fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, physics, computing, engineering science and communication, mechanics and materials. You then choose a major study area to focus on from your second year.

As an engineering student at UOW you can gain credit for relevant work experience, either in Australia or overseas, by participating in our Professional Options Program. All students undertake practical hands-on experience with industry for 12 weeks prior to the conclusion of their course.

Professional recognition

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours): UOW’s engineering programs are accredited by Engineers Australia and relevant world engineering bodies through the Washington Accord. This ensures recognition by equivalent professional engineering bodies in the USA, UK, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Ireland, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries.

This recognition ensures that graduates from this course are admitted, on application, to the grade of Graduate Membership of Engineers Australia.

The biomedical engineering major will be submitted for accreditation with Engineers Australia.

Bachelor of Business: Business majors are recognised by the relevant peak professional bodies in Australia and overseas: Accountancy major: Graduates are eligible for membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, the Institute of Public Accountants, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Finance major: This course has been accepted into the CFA Institute Affiliation Program. Graduates are eligible to apply for membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Financial planning major: Approved by the national Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority. Graduates of the degree are also eligible for entry into the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Certification Program offered by the Financial Planning Association. Human resource management major: Accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute. Marketing major: Graduates may be eligible to apply for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research Society and The Communication Council. Practical experience

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours): Compulsory 12 weeks of industry experience in one or more settings under the supervision of experienced engineers. Students can also participate in internships, industry projects and other career-ready learning opportunities. Bachelor of Business: Optional internship subject.

Honours

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours): In the final stages of the course, students undertake a research thesis in engineering. Bachelor of Business: Available as an additional year of study to meritorious students.
