^ The indicative annual tuition fee is based on a full-time student enrolment load of 48 credit points per year, or 1.0 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (1.0 EFTSL). Tuition fees are reviewed annually and may increase each year. Tuition fees are calculated on a student’s exact enrolment. UNSW students enrolled in most courses have some flexibility in the subjects they choose. At times these subjects will be from outside their own faculty. For example, a Commerce student may choose elective subjects from a range of other faculties; a student in a combined Law degree with Engineering or Science will choose subjects from Science and Engineering and subjects from Law. These choices may result in a higher or lower total fee for the year.
About
Mining Engineering is about the extraction of natural minerals from the earth and the processing of those minerals into more user-friendly forms with minimal environmental impact. This degree gives you a comprehensive understanding of how complex mining systems work together to service the global need for minerals. You will acquire a solid foundation of engineering principles and the essential elements of mining, including geomechanics, ventilation, mine planning and minerals processing.
Double degrees: Mining Engineering can be combined with 425560 Bachelor of Fine Arts, 425401 Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), 425850 Bachelor of Arts, 425850 Bachelor of Science, 425850 Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), 425900 Bachelor of Commerce, 426000 Bachelor of Laws, 429330 Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics) (Hons), or 429360 Bachelor of Advanced Science (Hons).

Industrial experience
Students complete at least 60 working days of approved industrial experience as part of all accredited Engineering programs.
Honours
Honours Class 1 or 2 will be awarded on the basis of superior performance throughout the course.

Admission criteria
Applicants with recent secondary education
Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Extension 1, Physics.
Bridging courses: Visit the UNSW website for information on UNSW Bridging Courses chemistry, mathematics and physics.
Faculty of Engineering Admission Scheme (FEAS): Students who do not achieve the required Selection Rank can apply for admission under FEAS, which takes into account the ATAR and a review of performance in relevant HSC (or equivalent) subjects. Students are also required to submit a video and personal statement conveying their motivation and passion towards Engineering studies.
Portfolio Entry: Early Conditional Offer Scheme: This degree is eligible for the Portfolio Entry Early Conditional Offer Scheme. You can submit a portfolio to demonstrate your passion for your chosen degree and receive an early conditional offer with an adjusted ATAR entry requirement. Students are required to submit a video and personal statement conveying their motivation and passion towards studying Engineering, Computer Science or Food Science.
