About

The Intensive Program is designed to set you up for success for when you transition to your dream Macquarie bachelor degree. It’s suitable if you’ve completed Year 12 or equivalent studies and have almost reached university entry requirements but still need to improve your academic literacy and study skills.

Successful completion of the program allows you to progress to the first year of a wide range of Macquarie bachelor degrees, providing you meet the entry requirements. The program is run over two seven-week terms, where you’ll study two units per term.

Areas of study

Essential: Digital media production, research for university studies. Electives: Business studies, fundamentals of science, numeracy skills for everyday life, mathematics for STEM.

Career opportunities

Successful completion of the program will allow you to progress into the first year of selected Macquarie University bachelor degrees, provided you meet the entry requirements. Once you've completed your degree, you’ll be prepared for a career in a range of areas such as the arts and social sciences; business, engineering; information technologies; languages and linguistics; media, communications and creative arts; medicine and health; psychology and cognitive science; science; and security, intelligence and criminology.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Min. selection rank: 50.00

Alternatively, you must achieve a minimum overall average mark of 50 in the HSC exams or interstate equivalent. (Other factors, including your ATAR and other attempted studies, are taken into consideration with your average mark. Therefore, achieving the average mark does not guarantee you an offer.) Only relevant state Board-approved academic subjects are included when reviewing your average. For instance, in the NSW HSC, we will consider your results from your 10 best units from Category A and B Board Developed courses.

Applicants with work and life experience

If you're a non-school applicant without adequate formal education, but you have informal learning or relevant work experience, you can submit a portfolio and additional information by the relevant application closing date for alternative entry pathway consideration. Portfolio entry application
